FAQ

Is my browser supported?
Currently, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge (Chromium based), and Safari offer the best support for the Web Speech API. Firefox typically does not support it by default.
Why nothing happens when I start?
Your browser will ask for microphone permission on first use. Please click "Allow". If blocked previously, check the lock icon in the address bar to reset permissions.
Does it work offline?
Usually requires an internet connection, as the browser sends audio to cloud servers for accurate processing. Some OS/Browsers may support limited offline dictation.
Does it stop automatically?
Yes, browsers stop listening after a period of silence to save resources. We attempt to restart it automatically for you, but continuous silence will eventually stop it.
How do I save the text?
You can copy the text to your clipboard using the "Copy" button or download it as a .txt file using the "Save" button.
Is my privacy protected?
We prioritize privacy. The audio processing happens between your browser and its vendor (e.g., Google). We do not store or upload any recordings to our own servers.
Are punctuation marks supported?
Yes, depending on the language and browser engine. You can typically say "period", "comma", "new line" to insert punctuation.
Is it free?
Yes, this tool is completely free to use with no hidden costs or limits.
